| Master Captain Celeste Dorage 1963-1976 – I grew up on the South Shore of L.I.N.Y., spending all my free time on the waters of Moriches Bay, Great South Bay and the Hamptons, learning to power/sail/navigate/troubleshoot and fix just about any boat I could get my hands on. In 1978 I attended Berklee School of Music in Boston, Ma. I went on to tour/perform with a variety of bands for the next 10 years. In 1990 I got a “real” job, chef/manager for a bar/restaurant in Boston’s South End. In 1993, my partner and I bought that restaurant. This lasted for 16 years. We were Boston’s Favorite and “Anchovies” continues to reign popular after it’s sale in March of 2006. I have retired from the hustle of the city to return to a world that sooths my soul, the water. I am a chef, a musician and most importantly, a responsible, confident captain. -2000- received USCG Master Captain License. -2000 – 2004 – Worked as crew and captain for Mahina Lai Charters in Cortez, Fl. This included 2hr. Dolphin sails on a 36’ Catamaran and 2hr.-2week sails on a 50’ Schooner. -2004 – 2005 – captained a private 72’ Ketch, the Crystal Spray on the waters between Boston Harbor and Gloucester, Ma. -Summer 2006 – Worked for Hawthorne Cove Marina, Salem, Ma. as launch captain. Worked private charters on my 36’ Islander and taught privately on a 1968, 22’ Pearson Ensign. -2006 – Received ASA Instructor certification -2006 – Teaching certified and non-certified sailing instruction on the Central West Coast of Florida. -2006 – delivering vessels on the West Coast of Florida and Eastern Seaboard from Florida to New Jersey, inter-coastal and offshore passages. In addition, I have good mechanical skills. I have a working knowledge of both diesel and gas systems, inboard and outboard motors (2 and 4 stroke), I’ve worked a bit with hydraulics, I/Os, electric motors and pumps. I have my own tools. I restored a 1976 I 36’, replacing all systems. I was live aboard for 2 years while in the New England area. I have countless hours cruising this vessel on the West Coast of Florida and also on the waters of New England. |
